QMA annual convention
The Québec Mining Association (QMA) holds its annual convention in June, during which, members can discuss various issues while participating to social and networking activities. During this convention, the QMA also holds its annual general meeting. The next congress will be held in 2025 on June 4th and 5th at Saint-Sauveur, Quebec.
Health and safety seminar
Workplace health and safety is a priority for the mining sector, and each year since 1964 the QMA organizes a health and safety seminar. The event attracts health and safety coordinators from many different mining companies, and offers an interesting and informative program. The next seminar will be held in October 7th, 2025.
Provincial Mining Rescue Competition
The Provincial Mining Rescue Competition is an annual event in Quebec where teams of mine rescuers compete in simulated emergency situations. Organized by the AMQ and the CNESST, it aims to assess and improve rescue skills. The 60ᵉ edition, held in May 2024 in Val-d’Or, rewarded teams from the Raglan, Odyssey and LaRonde mines. This competition promotes safety in the mining industry and the sharing of best practices.
The next edition will take place from May 22 to 24, 2025.
Québec mining week
April 28 to May 4, 2025, Québec Mining Week showcases the mining industry throughout Québec. Thanks to the work of volunteers in all regions and the involvement of the Québec Department of Energy and Natural Resources (Ministère de l’Énergie et des Ressources naturelles, or MERN) and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, a full range of activities is organized to help the general public learn more about Québec’s dynamic mining sector.
Ground control seminar
Every two years, the QMA organizes a ground control seminar offering a series of conferences allowing participants to learn about current practices in Quebec in ground control and rock mechanics. The last symposium was on April 23, 2025.
Maintenance seminar
Every two years, the QMA organizes the Maintenance symposium offering a series of conferences allowing participants to learn about the latest innovations in maintenance in mines, in addition to visiting the exhibitors’ lounge on site.
